Amos D. GROGG

• BIRTH: 25 APR 1847

Amos Grogg was born in Liberty Township in 1847.  Like all the Grogg children he was given a good education and was successful as a farmer in adult life.  In 1867 he married Eliza Jane Cobb in Crawford County.  He owned land in Sandusky Township, presumably a gift from his father and farmed that land until about the mid-1880’s.  It is not quite clear when he and his family removed to Markle, Huntington County, Indiana, but certainly his last son, James, and possible his next to last son, Charles, were born there.  Amos Grogg was listed in the 1920 Census as living with his son, Daniel (unmarried) and his second wife, Nellie B. _______, whom he married sometime after his wife Eliza’s death in 1901.  He died shortly thereafter in 1921 at the age of seventy-four.
