Peter GROGG

Peter Grogg was born in Stark County, Ohio, the youngest of seven sons of Solomon Grogg.  Upon maturity he worked for the neighboring farmers and rented land in Stark County seven years.  On 3 September 1846, He was married to Eliza Smith, daughter of Benjamin Smith, in Stark County and their first three children were born in Ohio.  In 1849 he moved to Indiana and bought 160 acres Richland Township, De Kalb County.  He cleared the wild track of land and proceeded to farm with great industry.   He was quite successful in this endeavor and increased his holdings to 320 acres of cultivated land, a good residence and comfortable farm buildings.   It is not known if the Rachel Grogg who appears with this family in the 1870 census was actually a child of Peter Grogg as she is not mentioned in any of the histories.  Peter Grogg died some time after 1885.
