Mary Snyder was born in Pennsylvania, most likely in either Albany or Brunswick Township, Berks County. A biography of her son, Daniel, states that she was born in Northhampton County; however, this seems unlikely. Sometime before 1809, she married Solomon Grogg, brother of John Grogg, who married her sister, Ester. They had their first two children in Pennsylvania before removing with the Snyder clan to Stark County, Ohio. Solomon and Mary settled in Plain Township north of Canton and raised their eight children there. After the death of her husband in 1841, Mary moved with a number of her children to Indiana. She died there at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 10 days. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Auburn, Dekalb County, Indiana.
