Father: Thomas FOSTERThomas Foster came in 1634 to Boston where he was a "cannonier at the Castle" (Castle William and Mary in Boston Harbor). He was a blacksmith, the progenitor of a long line of smiths, and was living in Weymouth as early as 1640. There he was sworn a freeman in 1647 but moved to Braintree before March 1648. Sergeant Thomas was often called before the Middlesex county court for worshipping in a way which the court considered heresy; he was fined in 1675 for attending meetings of the Anabaptists, a sect which rejected infant baptism. He and his wife Elizabeth subsequently moved to Billerica where their deaths are recorded, Thomas April 20, 1682, and Elizabeth January 29, 1695.
