Family 1: Margaret PFEIFERThe 1860 Census lists C K Cover as being born in Maryland. All census entries for his children list him as being born in Pennsylvania. The 1910 History of Crawford County reports him to have been a native of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. An age of 45 in 1860 would land his birth year around 1815. He married Margaret Pfeifer who was a native of Pennsylvania, but it is not known if the two were married in Ohio or Pennsylvania. The couple moved to Richland County, Ohio around 1835 where he became a contractor and builder. In 1840 he is listed as living in Marion in Richland County, Ohio. In 1852, he moved to Crestline, in Crawford County where he opened a hotel. This endeavor lasted only about a year and he then moved into the trade of butcher, which he followed until his death. In politics he is recorded to have been a democrat and also served for two terms as constable. Cyrus Cover died in 1863 at the age of 52 and is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery next to his wife, who died in 1899. The couple had eight children in all, one of whom died in infancy. He is listed as "Hiram" on the burial records of his daughter Catherine Adelaine.
